The idea of an all-night, alcohol and drug free graduation celebration
is not new !
The name "Project Graduation"
was coined in 1981 by the state of Maine
in response to the tragic loss of 18 lives
in alcohol and drug related crashes following graduation.

Maine's first Project Graduation was such a success
that many other high schools adopted similar programs.

Project Graduation has been a major success at B.F.A. Fairfax
and again this year we invite every student in the graduating class
to participate in a fun and safe evening planned and hosted by the parents
with support from the community !

The night will be filled with music,
entertainment, games, food and prizes.

There have already been some fundraising events
with more in the planning stages.
We have held some bake sales
and we are currently in the process of a selling chocolate bars.

If you are interested in helping with this fundraiser,
please contact Sheri Sheehan at 849-2896
or: sheehan11@verizon.net
The Project Graduation group is also looking for volunteers
to man the concession stands at the high school games.
If you are willing to contribute time to this cause,
please contact either Mark or Deb Irish at 849-2336.
Additionally, we have an ongoing bottle drive at Minor's Country Store.
If you have bottles that need to be picked up,
please contact Pat Pfender at 849-2376.

We are planning to hold a silent auction
and are in need of donated gifts/prizes.
We would appreciate any donated services anyone has to offer.

You can help by encouraging friends and business contacts
to support Project Graduation !!!

A general meeting for the B.F.A. Fairfax Project Graduation
for the senior class of 2005 will be held
Thursday, April, 2005 at 7 p.m. at the high school.
In order to carry out these ambitious plans
we will need the support of our all the parents of the Class of 2005
and the community !!!

We hope that you and your student will join in our efforts.
If you have any questions, suggestions,
or would like to help or donate something, please contact

Lesson #1

During my second month of nursing school, our professor gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions, until I read the last one: " What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school ? " Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen

the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark haired and in her 50's but how could I know her name. I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank. Just before class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our quiz grade. " Absolutely, " said the professor. " In your careers, you will meet many people. ALL are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say " hello. " I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy.
