Lesson #4
In ancient times, a king had a boulder placed on a roadway to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king's
wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the king for not keeping the road clear, but none
did anything about getting the

stone out of the way. Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder,
the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded.
After the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many
gold coins and a note from the king indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The peasant
learned what many of us never understand. Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition.

Update from David Young
on a change that will occur next year.
As you know, our 2005-2006 School Budget did pass
and Thank You for your support.
Part of that budget is for transportation services (busing).
The School Board, through a competitive bid process,
voted to offer Terricel Transit (Grand Avenue Enterprises, Inc.),
a three year contract.
For the last three years, Mathieu Enterprises, Inc.,
has been our provider.
They have been great to work with and have provided safe travel
for our Georgia students.
The Community Transportation Committee, which is made up of parents,
and the two members of the School Board Transportation Committee,
along with representatives from Terricel,
will be meeting to ensure that a positive transition happens.
Our first meeting will be April 13th at 6:30pm.
If you have any questions, thoughts, or concerns, please do not hesitate to call or stop in.

Guidance Corner....
I'm currently working in our 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade classrooms
covering the topics of cooperation and decision making in small groups.
Sometimes it is hard to get along with others and learn to compromise.
I was reading an interesting article in Ode Magazine (April 2005)
called "Survival of the Kindest."
To quote Italian psychotherapist Piero Ferrucci,
"At this time in history, kindness is not a luxury, but a necessity.
It is up to each of us to make a choice."
The children are learning the benefits of choosing kindness
as they work together.
